Numerous Innovations in Drive and Feed-in Technology
SIEB & MEYER at the SPS/IPC/Drives Trade Fair
Visit this year's SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg from November 22 to 24, 2016 and discover new innovations by SIEB & MEYER. The company has improved many of its well-proven classic products in the field of drive and feed-in technology.

SIEB & MEYER expands its product range of the multilevel-based drive amplifiers SD2M by adding two variants with DC voltage supply. The new variants provide performances of 183 kVA and/or 367 kVA at a supply voltage of 750 VDC. The DC voltage supply also enables to operate the SD2M with a regenerative power supply unit. This way applications with a process-related repeated braking operation can use the benefits of the 3-level technology. This applies, for example, to machine tools and test rigs.
SIEB & MEYER provides users of the drive amplifiers SD2 with two new safety functions that were especially developed for rotary motors without speed sensors. The features "Safe Frequency Monitor" (SFM) and "Safe Limited Output Frequency" (SLOF) are based on the feature "Safe Torque Off" (STO), integrated as standard in the SD2 drive amplifiers. The result is a functional and low-cost solution relevant especially in application fields such as high-speed cutting or grinding.
For the feed-in system SD2R with the output power 40 kVA SIEB & MEYER can now show the PGU certificate according to the BDEW medium-voltage guideline. Therefore, the complete solution may also be used in plants generating current from waste heat with an apparent power greater than 1 MW.
The open drive amplifier SD3 is now available as serial device with different performance ranges. The supplied development tool provides extensive function libraries with basic drive and control features of modern drive amplifiers. Based on this the customer can realize himself special features covering his core competences on the basis of C/C++ programming and protect his know-how. The support of an OPC UA-based communication provides the basis for Industry 4.0.
Last but not least SIEB & MEYER has improved the drive function for operating high-speed asynchronous motors for the frequency converter family SD2(S). The well-proven drive amplifiers now also enable to operate milling spindles with low-cost encoders in a wide speed range.
